Level 4 Ofqual Regulated Foot Health Practitioner Diploma

The Level 4 Foot Health Practitioner Diploma is an Ofqual regulated qualification designed to equip learners with the clinical knowledge, practical skills, and professional standards required to deliver high-quality foot health care.

This comprehensive diploma covers key areas including anatomy and physiology of the lower limb, infection control, dermatological and nail pathologies, therapeutic medications, and safe use of instruments. Learners will also gain hands-on experience in treating common foot conditions such as corns, calluses, fungal nails, and ingrown toenails, as well as providing professional advice on foot care and prevention.

Upon successful completion, graduates will be qualified to work independently as a Foot Health Practitioner, set up their own practice, or work within healthcare, community, or private clinical settings.

This diploma provides the foundation for a rewarding career in the growing field of foot health, combining clinical expertise with excellent client care.

The Innovate Awarding Level 4 Diploma for the Foot Health Care Practitioner (RQF Qualification Number 610/4007/1) is a nationally accredited qualification designed to equip learners with the knowledge, skills, and competence required to work as Foot Health Care Practitioners. This qualification promotes awareness of preventing and treating common foot and skin disorders and provides information on setting up in practice. It is developed in line with the Standards for the Foot Health Workforce published by Health Education England in 2021.

The qualification comprises the following units:

  1. Anatomy and Physiology: Study of the structure and function of the human body, focusing on the lower limb.

  2. Pathology and Microbiology: Understanding common foot and skin disorders, their causes, and prevention.

  3. Clinical Practice: Developing practical skills for assessing and treating foot conditions.

  4. Infection Control: Implementing procedures to prevent and control infections in a clinical setting.

  5. Professional Practice: Understanding the role and responsibilities of a Foot Health Care Practitioner.

  6. Health and Safety: Ensuring a safe working environment for both practitioners and patients.

  7. Business Practice: Knowledge of setting up and managing a Foot Health Care practice.

  8. Communication Skills: Effective communication with patients and other healthcare professionals.​

Theory Units are online and you will need to attend a 2 week practical in Birmingham to complete the observation units. 

​

​

Upon successful completion, learners will be eligible to work as Foot Health Care Practitioners in various settings, including private practice, care homes, and hospitals. They may also progress to further study or training, such as the Level 5 Assistant Practitioner apprenticeship or foundation degree.
